CAFC vs Cheshunt – Preview
Carshalton Athletic take on Cheshunt on Saturday with hopes of carrying forward the momentum of Monday’s victory over Potters Bar Town.
Cheshunt
Cheshunt failed to carry forward the momentum from the 4-0 thrashing away at Bognor Regis Town when they suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Dartford on Saturday. The Ambers currently find themselves in a bit of a precarious position in 18th place, level on points with Hashtag United who are in the drop zone and boast a game in hand over the Hertfordshire-based side. It was a difficult start to the 2024-25 season for Cheshunt; despite winning their curtain raiser 3-2 against Bognor, it proved a false dawn as they would remain winless in the Isthmian Premier for eight games before sealing a thrilling 3-2 win versus Hastings United in mid-October and following that up with a comfortable 2-0 Whitehawk victory. That said, the Ambers could not quite end the month in strong fashion, having back-to-back defeats inflicted on them by Cray Wanderers and Canvey Island.
The last couple of years have been tough for Cheshunt faithful, relegated from the National League South in the 2022-23 campaign and coming agonisingly close to the same fate but in the third tier of non-league football last year, finishing in 18th place on 43 points, four above the drop.
