County cup pits Robins against holders
Carshalton Athletic travel to face holders Metropolitan Police in the 3rd round of the Surrey Senior Cup on Tuesday 27th February (7.45pm kick off).
After a bye in the first round of the competition, the Robins reached this stage with a 3-1 home win over Tooting & Mitcham. Met Police have also played just one round beating Knaphill 1-0 at home at the beginning of the month courtesy of a Mason Galloway penalty. However, they have a certain pedigree in the competition having won it twice in the last three years, including a 4-1 final victory over Virginia Water at Dorking Wanderers’ Meadowbank ground last season.
The Police are currently playing their football in the Isthmian League South Central and currently sit 15th with 30 points from 29 games after switching from the Southern League Premier South last season, in which they finished eighth. Their leading scorer is Alex Body with eight. One regular in their starting line up who will be familiar to Robins fans is goalkeeper Liam Beach who started last season with the Robins.
The most recent meeting between the two sides was a pre-season friendly at the beginning of last season in which the Robins came out on top 3-2.
