Easter programme kicks off Friday night
After the disappointment of defeat to lowly Cheshunt last Saturday, Carshalton Athletic resume their quest for an end of season playoff spot at Concord Rangers on Friday 29th March (7.45pm kick off).
With six games to go the Robins are seventh, five points outside the playoff places but with both the teams immediately above them – Wingate and Finchley and Dulwich Hamlet – left to play, the Dulwich game coming on Easter Monday (see below). The tightness of the scrap for fourth and fifth places is illustrated by the fact that Potters Bar Town, currently 13th, are still potentially in the hunt.
Friday night’s game pits the Robins against the league’s bottom club who remain 15 points from safety after an agonising 1-0 defeat to leaders and champions elect Hornchurch on Tuesday night, courtesy of a goal in the seventh minute of added time. That made it eight defeats in a row for Rangers who are in the midst of a hectic schedule of games after multiple postponements earlier in the season (with the weather forecast this week, it’s definitely worth keeping track of the status of Friday’s game on social media).
The earlier meeting at Colston Avenue in September ended in a 2-0 Robins win, with Tommy Bradford on target for the first goal. Bunmi Babajide still leads Carshalton scorers with 17 for the season and will be looking to add to his total after going five games without a goal.
