Gulls wait in the wings
Carshalton Athletic travel to the Essex coast on Saturday 24th February to face Canvey Island (3pm kick off).
The Robins are on a run of just one defeat in the last 10 games but have taken only three points out of the last 12 after a sequence of three straight draws, including a 1-1 stalemate with Enfield Town last Saturday. So, they will be anxious to take maximum points to stay in contact with sides chasing the playoff places.
Having reached the playoffs themselves last season, Canvey Island have struggled to find the same consistency during this campaign and currently sit in 13th place with 38 points from 28 games. While their home form has been much stronger than results on their travels, that inconsistency is illustrated by the last two results at the Movie Starr Stadium against teams in the promotion mix – a 3-0 defeat to Enfield Town followed by a 3-0 win against Billericay Town.
The Gulls unfortunately produced probably their best away performance of the season at Colston Avenue back in October when they came out on top by that same 3-0 margin, former Robin Sam Mvemba claiming two of the goals.
However, reliable centre forward and target man Bradley Sach leads Gulls’ scorers with 13. For the Robins, Bunmi Babajide’s goal against Enfield last Saturday was his 17th of the season.
