Hope springs eternal as Rocks visit

Carshalton Athletic play their penultimate regular season home game of the season when they face a second successive coastal opponent in the shape of Bognor Regis Town at Colston Avenue on Saturday 13th April (3pm kick off).

After last weekend’s 1-0 loss at Whitehawk, the target for the Robins to now have any chance of making the playoffs has to be to take maximum points from this game and the two subsequent fixtures against Billericay Town and Wingate and Finchley, both of whom are better positioned – and hope for the best.

Any hopes Bognor may have had of making a late run for the playoffs themselves have evaporated in recent weeks with a record of just one point from the last possible 15. Most recently, they slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to another team in the playoff hunt, Hastings United.

When the teams met on the South coast back in August of last year, it finished in an entertaining 3-3 draw for the second season running, with Kwaku Frimpong among the scorers for the Robins. Not in the Rocks line up that day was leading scorer Dan Gifford, who has 21 goals for the season since joining from National League South Farnborough.
