Tags deny Robins with late equaliser
Carshalton Athletic were held to a 2-2 draw by Hashtag United in Essex on Saturday when Misha Djemaili scored his second goal of the game for the hosts with a minute remaining.
The sting in the tail was made all the worse as, not for first time this season, the Robins surrendered a two-goal lead.
Things looked rosy when defenders Luke Read and Joe Bell put Carshalton 2-0 up at half time. Read continued his hot scoring patch with a blast into the top corner after 17 minutes and Bell registered his second goal in consecutive games with a near replica header to the previous week from a Brad Williams corner shortly before half time.
Bell almost repeated the act just after half time, but the important next goal went Hashtag’s way when Djemaili beat Aaron Jones with a low shot shortly after coming on as a substitute. Bunmi Babajide’s effort to restore the two goal advantage was well smothered by home keeper Josh Strizovic. And with only a narrow lead and Hashtag sniffing a chance to get something out of the game in the dying minutes, Djemaili popped up again to level the scores and leave the Robins frustrated at what might have been three points to keep them in closer contention with the playoff
spots.
